Thumbnails are smaller versions of pictures that load very quickly and are therefore very Web-friendly. The small picture, or thumbnail, is a clickable link to a larger version of the picture. In other words, you actually need to save the picture 2 times -- once for each size instead of just using height and width tags to specify a smaller or larger size dimension for the picture. If you do the latter, you really aren't saving space. To make the thumbnail of a larger picture, open an image editor such as Photoshop, Corel Draw, or Paint Shop Pro and "resample" the image to the smaller size.
