UPGRADING SOFTWARE When considering a new or an upgrade version of a software application, it is generally a good idea to wait until it has been released a while and includes with it (or is downloadable from the vendor's web site) bug fixes or patches to correct problems they didn't see or choose to fix prior to release. This is true not only for software applications (Word, Photoshop, etc.) but is especially true for new or upgraded versions of your operating system -- Windows for most of you. A new version of an application usually has a version number that ends in a '.0' I usually wait until it is available with bug fixes included or downloadable from the vendor. The version number then usually ends with some number greater than zero. If you do install an application that has some problems, you can usually find 'bug fixes' at the vendor's website. 6. BITS AND BYTES OF HUMOR . . . While you are reading this note, keep track of the number next to those things that you remember. At the end, you'll know what that means to you. Ready? Do you remember? 1 - Blackjack chewing gum 2 - Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water 3 - Candy cigarettes 4 - Soda pop machines that dispensed bottles 5 - Coffee shops with tableside jukeboxes 6 - Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard stoppers 7 - Party telephone lines 8 - Newsreels before the movie 9 - P.F.
